Sounio is a sacred place of worship, dedicated to god Poseidon. It might not be a better place than Sounio for a temple dedicated to the god of the sea. It is an ancient temple builded in 5th century b.c. and it is one of the most popular destination for tourist, in the world.
It is also popular for historical travelers, many of them engraved their names on the temples ruins. There lies the signature of Lord Byron. In Sounio he inspired the poem “The islands of Hellas”.
